Great Landscapes of South America

Great Landscapes of South America

On this post we are going to learn a ñittle bit about south america tourist destinations. South America was visited by two of the greatest travelers of all time: Alexander Humboldt and Charles Darwin, both watched and marveled at the most amazing and beautiful landscapes of the new continent. South America has so many spectacular landscapes that it is not possible to mention them in a single article, for this reason, we have divided the theme so as not to omit any landscape.

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

This salt flat is the largest in the world with 10,582 square kilometers. It is located in the southwest of Bolivia, at a height of 3,656 meters above sea level, which makes it the largest desert of continuous and high salt in the world. The Salar de Uyuni in the rainy season forms a perfect mirror in which the sky is reflected and the horizon is confused, while in the dry season we admire a space of constant white infinity that makes it suitable for the game of perspectives. And in it, not only can you extract salt, but also lithium, the mineral of the future, although in a complicated process. From the population of Uyuni, there are tours to visit the whole area, which includes the Laguna Colorada or the Siloli Desert and Piedra Tree, true natural wonders.

Rock of Guatape, Colombia

Near the city of Medellin, Colombia is one of the strangest landscapes of South America. They say it is part of a meteorite, but the truth is that it is a very unique geological formation. A kind of stone; but giant. As you reach the town of Guatapé, you can see on the horizon a protuberance that comes out of the earth. It is the Piedra del Peñol, a gigantic rock with more than 200 meters high that climbed for the first time a local, Mr. Luis Eduardo Villegas López. To reach the viewpoint on the monolith formed by quartz, feldspar, and mica, you have to ascend about 700 steps. The views are worth it because you can see the Guatapé reservoir.

Easter Island, Chile

One of the most beautiful places in South America, and one of the most mysterious on the planet. In the middle of the Pacific, about 3,700 km off the coast of Chile, is Easter Island, which continues to arouse fascination for its moai. The landscape of Easter Island is spectacular and, at the discretion of Jacques Cousteau, has one of the best seas to dive for its high visibility. See a sunset in Hanga Roa, with the Ahu Tahai, one of the best-preserved groups of moais on the island, as a stage is still one of the shows that everyone should enjoy at least once in their lives.

Amazon River, as it passes through Iquitos

One of the mythical rivers of the world. Its hydrographic basin corresponds to about one-fifth of the liquid fresh water of the planet. It is a wonderful universe of fauna and flora. It is the longest river in the world, with 7,062 km in length from its source to its mouth. Born in Peru, it crosses Colombia and flows into Brazil. More than 1,000 tributary rivers arrive there, something that makes it the largest river in the world (it contains more water than the Nile, the Yangtze, and the Mississippi together).
