How to succeed as a Backpacker

The truth is that traveling is adventurous enough, and in itself takes us out of our comfort zones by having to deal with places we do not know, the cultures we are not familiar with and languages that we may not understand. We have the freedom to enjoy it the way we want, an all-inclusive luxury resort where we splurge and pamper ourselves, or a bed in the cheapest hostel in the city.

That is the beauty of traveling: there is something for everyone.

Traveling as a backpacker is a bohemian form of travel with a limited budget for those who are interested in discovering places, activities and meeting people. It does not mean that you have to be absolutely rude to be a backpacker since there are now fantastic low-cost options. Traveling as a backpacker is an interesting way to get to know other countries, cultures, new and wonderful people.

It is easy to be a backpacker, you just need to have some knowledge and conditions before starting your trip:

Be independent. Regularly, the backpacking trip is done alone or with a partner. However, it is a great experience to do it only at least once, since you will have the chance to learn who you are and who you want to be, to meet you.

You must be willing to take risks and take care of yourself. Make decisions such as to reserve a bed, find information and order meals and transportation.

It is essential to be prepared for the journey. Have a plan and research information and plan your trip. Plan your travel route and destinations wisely so you can save time and money. Do not forget to be smart when packing your things. You may want to save space and reduce the weight of your backpack.

Most importantly, you must be willing to sacrifice yourself. Backpackers face difficulties and challenges. They travel for long hours, cope with bad weather and face unpleasant people with suspicious intentions.

Backpackers usually look dirty and emaciated, wear casual clothes that they would not normally wear in their own country.

It is important to keep a notebook to record and write the stories and memories of amazing people and places. These will be the memories that you will treasure with the passing of the years. Think of it less like a diary and more like the history of your trips.

Always carry a game of cards or decks. It is one of the cheapest hobbies that guarantees fun. It is the easiest way to make friends and a lifeguard if you stay in a hostel without a television on a rainy day.

Buy a local SIM card. If you stay in a country for a while, buy a local SIM card for your mobile phone. It is much cheaper and you do not need to pay for the calls you receive.

Always wear a pair of cheap flip-flops.
If you are traveling through warm weather, take insect repellent.

Always carry a package of tissues with you.

Many cities have free tickets or cheaper ticket days to galleries, museums, and cinemas. Plan to save money. It is best to visit the local tourist information and get information brochures. Visit the libraries of the city, many have free access to the Internet, so you can review your next destination or plan and book the next part of your trip.

As you can see, you do not have to have a lot of money to travel. Just keep control of your budget and your time. If it is a matter of saving, it is advisable to make friends with the natives of the cities you visit, they will give you information on how to get to places you should not miss, where to eat cheaply and how to walk like a local. If possible, stay with them and know their culture. These friendships are one of the most important things about traveling as a backpacker.

Do not forget that you are free and have all the freedom and time to discover and live new things, new places, and new people. Forget worries. Traveling with a backpack will give you a new perspective to see and face life.
